The first assignment from my Photography guru is to tell my creative story – since the “creative” description might limit me to a line or two and I’m much more inclined to ramble. I believe I’ll exercise a bit of “creative” license……..
The first thirty something years of my story were spent in California – a great life, it’s where I met the man of my dreams and where my fabulous sons were born. But I feel that my story really began the day I opened a Homes Magazine of houses for sale in the Shenandoah Valley. There on the first page was a tiny photo of a run down, desperately in need of repair, could be – fabulous house. Somehow all the stars aligned (possibly with a little plotting on my part)to bring our family to Staunton and our now fabulous home – I didn’t mention that Perfect Hubby is a remodeling contractor – yay!
I began breeding dogs 23 years ago, just a little something to do while I kept busy being a stay at home mom. The doggie business grew over the years and put the sons through college. Now it’s a full time, fun, fur filled endeavor. I’m a retired stay at home mom (sons are grown), with oodles of doodles. I love the joy the puppies give me and the wonderful people I meet as a result – and I still have plenty of time for Kim’s classes and TJ Maxx!
While my creative/artist niche doesn’t manifest in the form of art – I love to decorate and accessorize our home, I can set a beautiful table (from the rows of dishes in the basement), and I’m a pretty decent cook. I can draw a mean stick figure, more than that is a challenge though. I sing along with a wide range of artists – and my dogs don’t howl too often, humans are of the opinion that I’m tone deaf – critics, ugh.
Once in a blue moon I snap a good shot – the frequency isn’t important to me, the pleasure I got from taking my first class with Kim was grand and that’s why I’m back for the full year. Good shots or bad, I’m ready for the adventure!
Winston has nothing really to do with this story, but it’s a photography class – the post needed a photo… Kim’s textures were used too…
