This week our assignment was to try different focal points with the same subject. With so many puppies in the kennel and wonderful families contacting me to make sure they provide the perfect home, I haven’t spent as much time focusing on our assignments as they deserve. This week, I took the easy road with Kim’s layout template and photos of the puppies – kinda doubled up with work and fun.
Instagram January 2013
The first month of 2013 just flew right by. I began playing along with FatMumSlim’s Photo-A-Day Instagram prompts last year and enjoyed it enough to not only continue this year, but to also add TakenTodayJanuary’s daily prompts
a few of my favorite furry faces…
oh and some humans too…
the weather in Staunton the last week of January was worth noting. Monday we had ice on the roads, Tuesday we were driving in the convertible, Wednesday we had rain followed by flooding on-Thursday and Friday we were down to 10 – it was the craziest week I remember. Sure wish I could order a repeat of the warm day.
I still play along with From Where I Stand when I have on cute shoes – lately it’s been my house shoes a lot. Unlike Kim, I stay inside as much as possible when it’s cold. If I need socks, it’s too cold – just sayin’
Playing With the Camera
Week two of Beyond Beyond was written for me – the assignment was to get to know our cameras, if we don’t already. I would be willing to bet, based on the skill levels of my fellow Beyonders, that I’m in the minority. Jeez, when the camera does auto everything (isn’t that why I paid the big bucks?) why do I need to learn? Kinda kidding. I didn’t save a lot – maybe it’s just my cranky mood today, but in the off chance that I won’t have time to get back to it, I processed one with a couple of textures.
To be honest, I prefer the richer colors in the original….
Beyond, Beyond – the beginning
Here we are at the beginning of a new Beyond class…..Beyond Beyond. Our first challenge was to take at least 10 shots of something without moving or changing the position of the subject. My first thought was to photograph Winston, but that would have required teaching “stay” – maybe a goal for the future.
While sauntering down the T.J.Maxx isles I spotted a frog prince garden figure and knew immediately he’d a. look cute by the pond this summer and b. his colors are great for this assignment. Saturday was the first sunny day all week and even though I had puppy selection appointments all day – it was fun to slip away in between and snap a few photos of the frog. This one is my favorite…..
I imagine that my frog prince, like me, is day dreaming about a warm summer day.
I love looking at him from the other side, however I’m not as fond of the house in the background….
and a little Rad Lab fun…
Even though my life can get wild and crazy with the dogs, I love making the time for Beyond, Beyond. The challenges are fun, my treat to me after the “dog chores” are complete – notice, I don’t require myself to do anything housework/laundry related to obtain my reward.
I took at least 50 shots and the ones I thought I’d like the best were not ultimately my favorites. Best of all, working in Photoshop saved me from yet another of hubby’s Netflix selections – YAY!
